Three places Packr is ahead
- It syncs, and it shares. Sign in and your trips follow you to an iPad, and the checklist can go to the people you travel with or straight to a printer. Voyalist does neither. Its lists stay on one iPhone. For a couple who both want the list, that single difference decides it.
- It has a track record. Thousands of ratings behind it and years of releases. Voyalist has no ratings at all yet, and there is no way to dress that up.
- It reaches further and does more. Packr runs on iOS 15, so it works on phones Voyalist will not install on, and its listing describes multiple destinations in one trip, TripIt import and assigning items to specific bags. Voyalist has none of those three.
Where Voyalist is different
- Nothing to sign into. No account, no login, no server call. Your destinations and dates never leave the phone, which is also why there is no sync. It is one trade, made in one direction.
- Quantities with a published rule. Eight pairs of socks for seven days, five tops if you can do laundry. The whole table and the rules behind it are on this site, so you can judge them before installing.
- A reason on every row. Each item explains itself in one line, which is what lets you cut a list down instead of packing it whole.
- A one time price. $34.99 buys lifetime access, if a subscription for a packing list is not something you want.
The short version. If you travel with someone who needs the same list on their own phone, or you want the app to look up the weather, Packr is the better fit today. If you want a list written for you on one device, with counts and reasons and no account anywhere in it, Voyalist is worth the minute it takes.
